Fire door surveys are inspections that determine the efficiency of fire doors. Although fire doors are considered in a fire risk assessment, they do not provide a comprehensive overview of what works are needed to ensure that the door will hold back fire and smoke.

As LPCB certified inspectors, we have provided fire door surveys in many types of building. This includes offices, schools, hospitals, hotels, care homes and printing works. The inspection considers the following points:

  • The frame
  • Door type and also material
  • Adequacy of self closer
  • Hold open devices if fitted
  • Hinges
  • Type of glass
  • Hinges
  • Seals and strips
  • Gaps between door and frame / floor
  • Signage
  • Certification labels
